We are a traditional Lakeland inn located in the beautiful Lakeland valley of Ennerdale, approximately 1.5 miles from Ennerdale lake. Situated in the centre of the village opposite the church and over one of three small bridges in the village, we have three comfortable spacious en-suite bedrooms with bath and shower. A large secluded beer garden and a cosy bar with two welcoming log fires. We have an excellent selection of local ales and offer hearty traditional pub food cooked on the premises from locally sourced ingredients.
Although located only 10miles from the historic towns of Whitehaven and Cockermouth our valley location, lack of mobile phone signal and public transport, gives our village the impression of being extremely remote. This remoteness made us the ideal location to allow an area of the National Park to develop with minimal interference from man and farming. This area is known as Wild Ennerdale, with an open access policy to walkers.
As the first stop on Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast route we welcome walkers and cyclists and are very family friendly. As Cumbria has more dogs per head of population than anywhere else in the UK we not only welcome dogs we actively encourage you to bring your dog with you. Dogs are welcome in all areas of our inn (except of course our kitchens).
This is a spacious double en suite room with shower over bath.
The room overlooks an historic row of black and white cottages and the village church.
